Arthur Montford Tribute Nov 27 2014 - his 2009 Kickabout interview with introduction from Mickey Weir and Gerry McDade

The Kickabout Podcast recorded an interview with Arthur in 2009 for our Boot Room show. Mickey Weir, Joe Tortolano and Gordon Dallas interviewed the great broadcaster in what turned out to be a cracking episode.
He talks of his association with Morton going back to 1942. He recalls seeing Sir Stanley Matthews turn out for Morton during the war. He talks about being in Egypt with the army while Morton played Rangers in the 1948 cup final where 133,000 fans watched the replay!!
He divulges that STV almost never covered the famous Real Madrid v Eintracht Frankfurt game in 1960 as well as telling us what his favourite ever interview was.
Plus we talk about his lucky jacket (worn 500 times and given to a Dundee charity!) and much more.
A real gentleman. He loved the game and the game loved him.
Arthur Montford 1934-2014

The Kickabout Pub Chat en route to Doncaster Races - Pt1 The Black Bags!

Mickey Weir and his crew, including Big Jobber and Tubby set off for Doncaster Races in a mini-bus. Mickey was given a recording device to capture a bit of Pub Chat and this is what he got....gold dust! The chat revolves around when the good lady of the house has piled your clothes and possessions into black bags and left them at the front door ie when were you nearly kicked out!
It's class stuff and you won't hear better and more honest stories anywhere on the net! Brilliant.

The Kickabout Away Days - Armadale Fireworks!

Gordon Dallas and Mickey Weir roll up to present The Annual Armadale Firewoks Night held on Nov 1st 2014 in front of 2,700 people. Headlining were Mayfield Drive with 2 other great support acts, Danni and Nikki McDonald. It's a cracking listen that gives you the feel of what it was like to be actually freezing, cold and wet....but fun. It was the night that will be remembered as the day Rangers and Celtic drew each other in the League Cup and of course you can hear Dallas inform the crowd! Genuinely good people at Armadale and well done to all the kids who came on stage and told jokes....especially the wee girl whose joke was....why did the apple cross the road to meet another apple......cause they were friends! Makes Mighty Boosh seem tame!

The Kickabout Show in Sportsters, Oct 2014 sponsored by Victor Paris

The Kickabout is back and better than ever. Perverting the nature of football up and down the land we rolled up to Sportsters Bar in Edinburgh and recorded a series of shows. The first one in this - The Kickabout Show sponsored by Victor Paris featuring Gordon Dallas, Mickey Weir, Joe Tortolano and guest Mark Woods of BritBall and even Gary the Sportsters manager gets in on the action. Chock full of features and sports chat like international Jeremy Clarkson bashing - a big hit in Argentina....plus other unfortunate car number plates like SH14TTY (TRUE!)
It's not for the intellectually gifted!
